DIY Face Masks for Summer

The summer heat makes it impossible for us to cake on layers of foundation, making flawless skin a must. Add the humidity and dust on top of that, achieving the perfect summer look just gets so difficult. Face masks are a great way to clarify and hydrate your skin. What’s better is that you can make them with a few simple ingredients in your kitchen.

MyGlamm lists a few DIY face masks for your skin needs.

To hydrate your skin-

½ a ripe avocado + 1 teaspoon yoghurt + 1 teaspoon honey

Mash the avocado until it forms a paste and then add yoghurt and honey to the mixture. Apply it on your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off.

For a radiant glow-

2 tablespoons honey + juice from ½ a lemon

Lemon juice is known for its anti-bacterial properties and can help minimise the appearance of acne scars and dark spots. Honey moisturises your skin and keeps it smooth.

To combat oily skin-

Fuller’s earth + rose water

Add rose water to Fuller’s earth powder until it forms a paste. Apply it on your skin and leave it for 20 minutes before washing it off. The Fuller’s earth draws out toxins and impurities while rose water refreshes dull skin.

To fight acne-

Raw, ripe papaya

Mash a few pieces of ripe papaya and apply the paste to your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off. Papaya unclogs pores and reduces the occurrence of acne.

To remove a tan-

½ a tomato + 1 teaspoon of yoghurt

Add the juice of half a ripe tomato to a tea spoon of yoghurt and apply the mixture on your face. Wait for 30 minutes before rinsing it off. The tomato helps remove unwanted pigmentation and makes your skin glow.
