Black tea, gooseberries, bamboo extract, mango seed butter, willow bark, rice water, apricot kernels - there are so MANY interesting skincare ingredients out there! While we may be tempted to try all of them, we should, of course, choose them keeping our skin type in mind. You see, different skin types react differently with different skincare ingredients. If you pick the wrong ingredient, it could cause an allergic reaction. To ensure that you never experience this, we've looped in Dr Kiran Sethi of Isya Aesthetics

Dr Kiran Sethi Tells Us The Best Ingredients To Use Based On Our Skin Type

Once you know your skin type, choosing the correct beauty products becomes easier. Dr Kiran Sethi spills the beans on which skincare ingredients work best on which skin type.

Dry Skin - Ceramides

According to Dr Kiran, ceramides are building blocks of healthy, strong and moist skin. They not only hold the skin together but also prevent moisture from escaping. Ceramides keep the skin supple and protect it from environmental stressors.

Oily Skin - Green Tea Extract

If you have terribly oily skin, Dr Kiran suggests using a skincare product that has green tea extract. This ingredient reduces oil secretion and keeps the acne at bay. Not to forget, green tea is rich in antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to treat both, oily and acne-prone skin.

Normal Skin - Vitamin C

For a woman who has normal skin and is always on the go, she will expose her skin to environmental stressors and pollution. Constant exposure to these stressors can take a toll on the skin making it look dull and tired. For that extra dose of energy and brightness, Dr Kiran recommends Vitamin C. It's a great antioxidant and antipollution ingredient and helps to maintain healthy skin.

Mature Skin - Retinol

To prevent premature ageing, Dr Kiran recommends using retinol. It's an important ingredient that helps to boost collagen synthesis and promote skin turnover. Not only does it make the skin look more youthful, but retinol also evens out the complexion as well.

Sensitive Skin - Cica Extract

Since sensitive is prone to breakouts and inflammation, Dr Kiran suggests using a skincare product with Cica extracts. Centella Asiatica is well known as a calming and inflammation-reducing agent. Since Cica is incredibly moisturising, it acts as a great soothing remedy for eczema and psoriasis.

While other skincare products may work for your skin type, the ones Dr Kiran listed above will surely transform your skin for the better. Remember to always do a patch test before applying the product all over your skin. That way, you'll know whether that particular product agrees with your skin or not. Good luck!
