Talking about this, Dr. Shetty says, "It is important to regularly clean your cleansing brushes to prevent dead skin, oil, and bacteria build-up. As these brushes are directly used on your face, the cleaner they are, the better it is for your skin. Using dirty brushes can lead to skin irritation, and can also cause acne and breakouts."

"I recommend cleaning these brushes after every use. Along with the right frequency, ensure you soak your brushes in water and use a mild soap to remove any excess dirt and then air dry it before you use it again", he says. 

Do They Really Have Anti-Ageing Benefits?

"There are no proven anti-ageing benefits by simply using facial cleansing brushes", adds the specialist. So, if you were looking to buy one for reducing early signs of aging, think again.

"People with acne-prone skin can skip using cleansing brushes as it can be harsh for the skin. We recommend you check with your dermatologist if you have never used one before and are planning to introduce it in your skincare regime", informs Dr. Shetty.

He also says that a cleansing brush necessarily doesn't have to be a part of your skincare regimen as excessive scrubbing can cause redness or skin irritation. So it's best to consult a dermatologist if you have sensitive skin because we're sure you don't want any harsh reactions to the tool.
