Makeup tips for mature skin

Getting old has its own perks. You become wiser, smarter and have greater emotional stability and clearer priorities. With time you are also better able to see the bigger picture and see the good and ignore the bad. But skin is something you must not ignore, not in your youth and not when you are ageing. Choosing the right makeup and skincare products and techniques can take years off your face and similarly, the wrong product and techniques can make you look older than you are. When it comes to beauty and makeup, there are some things women with mature skin need to consider and rules to follow so that they get best results.

Here are some makeup tips for women with mature skin to follow:

Invest in a good moisturiser
The skin becomes drier with age. Start moisturising your mature skin religiously, at least twice a day. Dryness in the skin may cause it to look rough and even become less supple. This leads to prominence of lines and wrinkles on the skin. Along with face, incorporate neck, hands, elbows and knees in your moisturising regimen. Use a high-quality moisturiser that suits your skin type. Invest in night creams to wake up to soft, supple skin every morning.

Less is still more
The less is more approach is important here. With age, the skin may lose its vitality and glow and may even become uneven toned. This compels a lot of women to pile on products onto their face. A heavy foundation is more likely to settle into fine lines and wrinkles and accentuate them. Use the products in moderation and remember to blend well.

Take care of under eye area
The area around the eyes is thin and quite sensitive. It is prone to drying, getting puffy and dark. Wrinkles appear around the eyes and look prominent on dry skin. It’s time to include a hydrating serum and eye cream in your stash of skincare products. Keep the area around the eyes hydrated so that the skin looks fresh, supple and dewy.

Mascara and brow powder
With age, the eyelashes and eyebrows may lose their volume and thickness. Wear volumising and lengthening mascara that amplifies the lashes. Fuller lashes define and open up the eyes and make them look brighter and youthful. Similarly, brows frame the face and makes it look more beautiful. Full brows also make one look younger. Groom your brows ad fill in the brows with brow powder or pencil so that they look darker and fuller. Nourish your lashes and brows with natural oils like coconut, olive and almond oil.

Prime the skin
Primer is one product that can do wonders for mature skin. Primer fills in the pores and makes the skin smoother. MyGlamm's Tinted Perfection Base Primer & Pore Minimiser  hides pores giving you visibly smooth skin. It is also slightly tinted, and helps hide minor blemishes. Applying a layer of good quality primer before your base helps fill the finest lines and wrinkles in the skin giving a better foundation coverage. Primers also even out the skin surface and prevent makeup creasing. Use primer on the eyelids, face, and neck before you apply makeup.
