The wait is over people, the famous holy grail of beauty and fashion- The Met Gala 2018 was concluded in new York city with great pomp and show on the night of May 7th, first Monday in May.
Also known as the Met Ball, Met Gala is the short for Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala and is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Each year's event celebrates the theme of that year's Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night. And that is what makes the Met gala most interesting, as the guests often dress up according to the theme, bringing along their own quirky and stylish takes.
This year’s Met Ball was hosted by Rihanna, Amal Clooney, Donatella Versace, Anna Wintour, and Stephen and Christine Schwarzman. The theme for 2018 Met Ball was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination resounding with the Costume Institute’s new exhibition and the red carpet.
Leading ladies like Katy Perry, Cardi B, Priyanka Chopra, Kim Kardashian, Kendal Jenner, Joan Smalls, Amal Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Giselle Bunchen, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively turned up on the red carpet and wowed the world with their fresh and individual styles.
Along the men, the star of Marvel’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, Singer Nick Jonas, tech billionaire Elon Musk made red carpet appearances. Rapper 2 Chainz warmed hearts when he used the red-carpet opportunity to propose to his long-time girlfriend Kesha Ward on the steps of the Met.

Riri’s look as always was the most talked about. Rihanna made waves when she appeared in her Pope-inspired dress. The white, pearl-encrusted dress featured white beaded corset mini dress under a full skirt, with a bejewelled bishop hat style tiara to match. The Her accessories included a pearl anklet and a bejewelled crucifix necklace.
Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone
Among Indian celebs, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone attended the 2018 Met Gala event in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Priyanka walked the red carpet in a Ralph Lauren velvet gown, the same designer who created her trench gown for the 2017 gala. The flowing wine-red gown featured a gold beaded hood.
Deepika Padukone on the other hand refrained from sticking to the theme and went the safe way with a fresh faced and red lipped look. She dressed in an extravagant one-shouldered red gown by designer Prabal Gaurang that had an extended thigh-high slit. Deepika kept her hair up with a high pony and accessorized with diamond and pearl earrings and a matching ring.
The beautiful Blake Lively made a night-ending appearance as the final celebrity on the Met Gala carpet, and it was worth the wait. With her custom-made Alelier Versace dress, Christian Louboutin shoes paired with Judith Leiber Couture bag and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, Blake slayed at the red carpet like the pro that she is.
Kendall looked scorching on the red carpet in her pristine white outfit complemented weel with a simple yet sultry smoky eye, contoured cheeks and glossy nude lips.
Bella chose to keep the focus on her pretty eyes by opting for gold metallic eyeliner. She preferred to keep the rest of the makeup quite subtle and let her flawless skin and glowing complexion take centre stage.
