shutterstock_1656857656.jpg

It's good to see that beauty companies today are becoming more conscious of the ingredients they employ into their products. Take vegan skincare for example. It's one of the most popular beauty trends in the world right now because vegan products are not tested on animals and neither do they contain animal by-products. To be sure if a vegan product is actually vegan or not, try to find a 'Vegan Society' logo on its packaging. Want to know something even cooler? You can actually make your own vegan skincare masks at home from scratch!

4 Vegan Skincare Mask Recipes You Can Make At Home

To help you get your hands on the cleanest and freshest DIY vegan skincare mask recipes, we've looped in the Director at Paul Penders Botanicals, Sargam Dhawan Bhayana. She's going to share with us four incredibly easy vegan skincare masks that you can whip up in your kitchen.

1. Avocado & Banana Mask – The Perfect Hydrating Mask

Both avocado and banana help to moisturise and nourish the skin. While the avocado pulp is rich in antioxidants like B-carotene and linoleic acid, bananas are packed with vitamin A and potassium. Both these ingredients will help to improve the skin's texture by making it supple and baby soft.

You will need:

  • Avocado – 2 tbsps mashed avocado
  • Banana - 1 tbsp mashed banana
  • Jojoba Oil – 1 and 1⁄2 tsp jojoba oil
  • Lemon Juice – 1tsp

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a clean glass bowl.
  • Apply the mask evenly on your face. Leave it for 15-20 minutes or until it dries.
  • Wash with cold water and pat dry.
  • Follow up with a light moisturizer.

2. Cucumber Face Mask - The Perfect Summer Mask

Acne-prone and sensitive skin types will benefit immensely from cucumber pulp because it's extremely soothing and hydrating.

You will need:

  • Grated Cucumber – 1⁄2 grated cucumber
  • Lemon – 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Mint Leaves – 2 to 3 crushed mint leaves

Method:

  • Take the grated cucumber in a glass bowl.
  • Add the crushed mint leaves in the bowl.
  • Add the lemon juice to the mixture.
  • Mix all ingredients together and apply. Leave it on for at least 20 mins.
  • Once it is dry, clean your face with cold water.

3. Banana & Turmeric- The Perfect Brightening Face Mask

While bananas make your skin soft and smooth, turmeric powder will brighten dull skin. Packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, turmeric powder helps to add glow and lustre to your skin.

You will need:

  • Banana – 2 tbsps mashed
  • Turmeric powder - 1⁄2 tsp
  • Baking Soda – 1 tsp or Just a pinch

Method:

  • Mix the mashed banana and turmeric in a clean glass bowl.
  • Add the baking soda to the mixture and mix well.
  • Apply the mask over your face. Keep it on until completely dry.
  • Wash with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry.

4. Aloe & Calendula Mask - The Perfect Soothing Face Mask

If you're dealing with a skin rash or a burn, please seek help from aloe vera. It's got cooling and anti-inflammatory properties that will help to nurse your skin back to health. Whereas in the case of calendula, it too contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that provide relief to damaged skin.

You will need:

  • Aloe gel - 4 tbsps
  • Shea butter – 3 tbsps
  • Calendula oil – 2 tsp

Method:

  • Mix the ingredients well together in a clean glass bowl. Apply and leave on for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse with chamomile infusion.

Aren't these vegan skincare masks the easiest to make? Plus, all the ingredients are super simple and easily available in the market. Which one of these will you try this week?
