We all know that yoga is good for the body, but did you know that there are particular yoga moves that are beneficial for the face as well? Yes, face yoga is a thing and it’s worth all your attention. Just like body yoga increases blood flow, muscle strength and boosts metabolism, face yoga has its own set of benefits like strengthening the muscles in your face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, increasing blood circulation, releasing any tension in the face as well as firming and tightening the facial skin.
Intrigued? Well, lucky for you, we’ve listed down a few facial yoga moves that will keep your skin taut, make it look youthful and leave it with a radiant glow. All you need are 10 minutes, 5 days a week.
These yoga moves will add that enviable radiance and glow to the skin while also strengthening the muscles.
Start your face yoga session by taking in deep breaths and stretch your neck 2 to 3 times on either side to release the muscle tension. So this for a couple of minutes till you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
Then close your eyes and hold your hand in a fist and keep your thumb upright. Start moving the right thumb on the right eye and your left thumb on the left eye, making circles around your eyes. Keep doing this for 2 to 3 minutes before moving on to the next part of the face. Once you’re done, open and close your eyes tight for 3 to 4 minutes.
This will loosen the muscles around the eyes and get rid of dark circles and puffiness.
For your cheek yoga massage, breathe in from your mouth and puff up both your cheeks. Leave it for a couple of seconds before releasing the breath through your mouth. Repeat this 8 to 10 times.
Stretch your mouth as much as you can by smiling. Next, press your lips tightly together and kiss! Repeat this exercise 20 to 25 times. Even though it might seem a bit weird, this exercise helps relax the muscles around the lips and add a radiant glow to your cheeks.
Keep both the thumbs below the chin and start pressing from the lower side. Next, slowly move your neck upwards using only your thumbs. Do this for 2 to 3 minutes. This will help get rid of your double chin and give you a well-defined jawline.
Using your index finger and thumb, hold your eyebrows from the start of your brows and slowly pull towards the centre and gradually move to the ends. Do this for about 3 to 4 minutes. This will help relieve stress from your eyebrow area.
Apart from these facial yoga exercises, remember to follow a CTM routine regularly. This cleanses the pores, gets rid of all the debris and dirt accumulated, and nourishes the skin too. This basic regimen is essential for maintaining skin radiance.
Give these exercises a try and you’re sure to notice some difference within a week.
